US-Cert Uncovers Quicktime Bug

US-Cert discovers a buffer-overflow bug in Quicktime

The US-Cert a leading internet and network security firm, has discovered a new vulnerability in Apple’s Quicktime software. This vulnerability falls under the category of being a buffer overflow and affects both the Windows and Mac versions of QuickTime. Since QuickTime is a part of iTunes, it affects that program also.

The bug has been found in the way QuickTime handles RTSP-related response messages. This affects the software as with a specially crafted attack, Quickplayer can be made to crash at a memory location and also be controlled by an attacker.
