Update: GT-I9250 is the Nexus Prime sans HD screen

Update: A user agent profile (UAProf) on Samsung's website confirms that the Nexus Prime will be the GT-I9250. However, it will sport a 480x800 resolution screen, rather than the previously rumoured HD screen. It will also launch with Android 4.0, a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich.

After the recent leak of an entire fleet of yet-to-arrive Android handsets from Samsung, the GT-I9250 may be the first one to enter the scene and if rumours are to be believed, then it may be Google’s next reference phone, the Nexus Prime. This will also be the very first mobile phone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If you were expecting the next reference phone to be made by Motorola, then you’ll probably have to wait until next year. Remember, the deal with Motorola Mobility was finalized just a couple weeks ago and Google has been working on the Nexus S successor for quite some time now, so I doubt they’d make a last minute switch.

The GT-I9250 is their flagship phone that’ll sport a massive 4.65-inch Super AMOLED screen. The new screen will come with a 720p resolution and will be based on the Pen Tile matrix that Samsung recently demoed. The Nexus Prime will be powered by a speedy 1.5GHz dual core processor and PowerVR SGX540 GPU, which together would make it the fastest chip ever to be seen on a mobile handset, yet.

A few days back, Samsung released a teaser video for their Berlin Unpacked event that’s scheduled to take place on the eve of IFA 2011. At the end of the teaser, the line ‘Something Big is Coming’ strongly hints at the GT-I9250. In any case, we’ll know come September.
