Epic Games has announced that the next version of its extremely popular game engine—Unreal Engine—will be integrating middleware technologies and software. This is part of the Unreal Engine 4's Integrated Partners Program (IPP). Middleware technology such as support for the Oculus Rift and Nvidia's PhysX will be included in Unreal Engine 4.

Unreal Engine 4 will have a lot of integrated tech right out of the box
The software and technology included in Unreal Engine 4 as part of IPP are Audiokinetic's Wwise, Autodesk's Gameware, Donya Labs' Simplygon, Geomerics' Enlighten, IDV's SpeedTree for Games, Intel Threading Building Blocks, NaturalMotion's morpheme and euphoria, Nvidia's PhysX and APEX, Oculus VR's Oculus Rift, Rad Game Tools' Bink Video and Telemetry Performance Visualiser, RealD Development Kit, Umbra Software's Umbra 3 and Xoreax's IncrediBuild-XGE.
Back in March, Epic had released a new video demo of its upcoming Unreal Engine 4. As opposed to the earlier shown-off Elemental demo, this one—dubbed Infiltrator—uses a different lighting technique. The Elemental demo used something called the Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination lighting system, which gave spectacular lighting effects. Infiltrator uses a static global illumination technique for lighting, which seems to be less taxing on the hardware. Despite this, though, while it is a given that Unreal Engine 4 would look gorgeous on a decent PC, the PS4 isn't a slouch either.
Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
