Uber X comes to India with lower price tiers

Uber, the cab service that works via a mobile app and allows users to higher luxury vehicles, has launched its cheaper version in India. The Uber X service will start in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune, according to a report in Times of India.  According to Uber's website, the cab rental for Ubex X starts at Rs 50, while the cost per kilometre is Rs 15. There's also per minute waiting of Rs 2. The minimum fare is Rs 150, while the cancellation fee is Rs 150. Cars available are Toyota Etios, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and Nissan Sunny. The Uber app now has a slider at the bottom which will let users select between the two offerings. Uber Black is the premium service which offers Mercedes and BMW cars, to name a few. The service is currently limited to credit cards, via Google wallet or PayPal account. Given that puts a limit on the number of users who can sign up, the company is expected to change this policy soon. It should be noted that Uber doesn't own any cars and just acts like a middleman between the customer and the cab driver. Uber's new X service will compete with the likes of Olacabs, TaxiForSure, TaxiPixi, EasyCabs and Meru.
