Uber and Ola fare prices may go up: Report

While users of cab aggregator services like Uber and Ola enjoy lower than usual fares (along with some added creature comforts) compared to the usual local taxi services, all of this may soon change.Cab aggregators in India have massive financial backing from funds. But that too at times may not be enough; not for the rider but for the driver.A report from the Times of India points out how cab drivers are getting tired and frustrated with lowered fares and lowered incentives to compete with the competition.The daily driver incentives for example have come down. What used be higher in the earlier days, was recently an average Rs 2,000 and has now dropped to Rs 600. Indeed, these are not official figures since cab aggregators never discuss incentives and discounts officially. The same can be said about driver earnings which has taken a substantial hit since the good old days back in 2015.The blame however goes on the cab aggregators as they are ones who had encouraged the lifestyle for drivers in the earlier days. Today its the same lifestyle that's hitting back (along with the commitments) since the scene has gotten competitive and the ride fares keep dropping.Incentives have been the key to driver satisfaction in this business and now that the incentives have dropped, drivers want a raise when it comes to fares.Indeed customers are happier than ever in such a scenario, but with so many riders complaining on the other end, those happy days may soon come to an end.
