Twitter lets you add description to your images in the mobile app

Twitter announced a new feature for its mobile app to help images be accessible to more users. According to the new feature, called alt text, you can now add up to 420 character description to your images while uploading them on the Twitter mobile app.The main idea behind the feature according to Twitter is that visually impaired users can get to learn about images via the accessibility feature. The feature has rolled out on Android and iOS Twitter app. You will need to go to Settings>Accessibility and enable the checkbox for 'Compose Image Descriptions'."The next time you add an image to a Tweet, each thumbnail in the composer will have an add description button. Tap it to add a description to the image. People who are visually impaired will have access to the description via their assistive technology (e.g., screen readers and braille displays)," said Twitter on its blog.Twitter is calling this feature alt text, and to ensure that its publishers and third party clients have access to it, Twitter has extended this feature to REST API and Twitter cards as well, which will help Twitter clients for visually impaired such as EasyChirp, Chicken Nugget and The Qube.
