Twitter finally removes the 140 character limit from Direct Messages

Twitter has announced to have finally pulled out the 140 character limit from Direct Messages. Twitter said it has begun rolling out the change across Android and iOS apps, on twitter.com, TweetDeck, and Twitter for Mac.https://twitter.com/twitter/status/631513207882907648"If you’ve checked your Direct Messages today, you may have noticed that something’s missing: the limitation of 140 characters. You can now chat on (and on) in a single Direct Message, and likely still have some characters left over," Twitter said in a blogpost.However, the roll out seems to be in phases as the change isn't working for us yet. So, users who still can't send longer DMs might just have to wait for sometime. Also, it should be noted that the new change is only for messaging and not tweets, which will continue to be 140 characters only.Twitter will now allow users to send direct messages that are 10,000 characters long. Needless to say, with the fierce competition in the messaging space with the likes of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, the company sure knows instant messaging will be a big deal in the future. In June, the company had announced this upcoming change and interestingly on the same day that co-founder Dick Costolo decides to step down as the CEO.
