Total War: Rome 2 gets update to improve AI performance

Creative Assembly’s recent strategy game, Total War: Rome 2, has been plagued with quite a few problems. Luckily, the developer seems to be working on ironing these issues out. It has now released a patch for the game which will drastically improve the general gameplay, since the new patch promises to reduce the calculation time AI-controlled faction use when it is their turn.

The new patch also has a new "Limited" option in the "Show AI Player Moves" settings for single player and multiplayer campaign modes. This allows the player to see all movement of enemy factions, all movement within the players' regions and all movement within the sea that the player has ports in during the AI's turns. Almost every other change in the patch is a performance improvement of some kind.

The AI has been a sore point

The game has been out for a couple of weeks now, and those interested can buy it in one of two ways. You can either grab it off digital distribution platform Steam for a hefty $59.95 price tag (Rs 4,000 approx), or you can get it from retail outlets for Rs 1,499.

Games in the Total War series are split into two parts: a Civilization-esque giant "board game" where players and the AI take turns to do various things like improving cities and states, and a more traditional real-time strategy view where the game's gigantic battles take place.

The newest game in the Total War series takes the action back to the same setting as the third game of the series—ancient Rome. The original Total War: Rome was when many considered the series to have come into its own, despite previous games in the series also receiving critical acclaim.
