Toshiba Unleashes Multiple TV Models

Toshiba launched its new line-up of Televisions today, confirming the release of the PC1, PS1, PB1 and the WL700 series of LED TVs. The company also released details of their flagship LED TV model - the 55ZL800.

The PC1 series of 24-inch and 32-inch LED TVs boast of integrated back-up batteries, promising around 2 hours of backup viewing in a country that’s plagued by frequent powercuts. The PS1 series of 24, 32 and 40-inch TVs are all designed to maximize power saving, while the PB1 series of 24 and 32-inch models feature cold cathode fluorescent backlights.

Toshiba also released details on their WL700 series of 3D LED TVs, the first from Toshiba to launch in India. The TVs are based on a minimalist design, though how exactly 46 and 55-inch TVs are minimalist remains a mystery. Maybe the fact that the TVs are only 29mm deep has something to do with it.

To top it all off, the company unveiled their flagship LED TV models, the 55 and 46-inch variants of the ZL800 series. The TVs feature Toshiba’s new CEVO engine, a multi-processor platform that generates 3D images that are viewable with the naked eye. Yes you read that right, it means 3D without glasses.

PB1 Series - 24” (Rs. 15,000/-), 32” (Rs. 25,000/-)

That… is a lot of TVs. Toshiba has certainly announced its presence in the Indian market with this move, but whether it’ll win over the customers remains to be seen.
