At the D11 Conference, Apple boss Tim Cook shed some light on the much-anticipated update to iOS. According to The Verge, Cook revealed at the conference what everyone had been suspecting ever since late last year - that Jony Ive will be working on iOS 7. According to Cook, Apple has "recognized that Jony had contributed significantly to the look and feel of Apple over many many years and could do that for our software as well," calling the designer "absolutely incredible." Jony Ive took the reins of iOS 7 following the removal of Scott Forstall as the Senior Vice President of iOS. He was revealed to have been given the additional role in "human interface". Ive has been responsible for most of Apple's well-known hardware designs. It has been rumoured for quite some time now that because of Ive's influence, iOS 7 will sport a flatter design than the current glossy interface of iOS.

Ive's has received a number of accolades in his career. Back in 2007, The Sunday Times named him as one of Britain's most influential expatriates. Ive's claim to fame has been designing the iconic iPod.

Cook was asked if Ive has been working on the new version of iOS, to which he replied yes. He went on to call him "really key" to the redesign of the mobile operating system. Despite this, however, Cook refused to mention specifics of the next version of iOS. He said that the new versions of both iOS and OS X will be on show at Apple's developer conference next month.
