In what comes as almost as a lease of new life for the legend of the bygone era, the typewriter has been given a second chance at life. We reported a few weeks ago that the Godrej & Boyce factory located in the suburban Vikhroli, Mumbai which perhaps is the last ever unit to manufacture the typewriter was on the verge of shutting down.

Today, that news seems to be a far-fetched thought. The Godrej & Boyce unit now is a place buzzing with activity with the workers speeding up the manufacturing process and eager customers who want to own the manual typewriter. Post the several reports that pointed out the sorry state of the typewriter, customers have been incessantly calling in to book their typewriter. As much as 500 orders have been placed at this unit alone in the last few days.
