The OnePlus 5 sees over 300,000 registrations in China just days before its official launch on 20 June

OnePlus 5, the upcoming flagship smartphone from OnePlus’ stables certainly has everyone excited. And why shouldn’t they be? Evidence of this is seen in recent reports that registrations for the device have apparently exceeded 300,000 on JD.com in the days preceding the global launch of the device. JD.com is a Chinese retailer.The global launch of the device is set to happen on 20 June, but the India launch will happen on 22 June. OnePlus made waves with the launch of the OnePlus 3 last year, primarily for its stellar combination of performance and price. The OnePlus 5 is expected to be no different and is expected to retail at Rs 32,999. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 platform, which we’ve only seen on the Samsung Galaxy S8 so far. The device is also expected to pack in up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. There will be a variant with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage as well.On the camera front, the company has partnered with DxOMark, the folk who define the standards for smartphone cameras. Hopefully, this will result in stellar image quality from the device’s dual-rear camera setup. The rear camera unit features a dual camera setup, one featuring a monochrome sensor and the other an RGB one.It’s not all good news, however.
