Temple Run 2 now available for Android

Almost a week after its release on iOS devices, popular running game Temple Run 2 has now made its way to Android. The game is available on Google Play for free and is compatible with devices running Android 2.1 and up. You can grab the game for your Android device here. It is interesting to note, however, that the game failed to show up when we searched for it on the Play Store app using a mobile.

Considering the recently announced success of the game on iOS devices, it will be interesting to see how successful the game is on Android devices. While the success maybe attributed to the fact that the game is free, it’s also an indication of its popularity and the demand for casual games that you can pick up and play for two minutes and put away again.

Temple Run 2 is out now for iOS

The game was launched last week on iTunes for the iPhone and iPad. The sequel builds upon the original with new gameplay mechanics like the inclusion of the zipline, mine carts and a new power meter.

Shepherd said that the game is more of what fans loved, but with a depth that his team wasn't able to add in the first game. "We wanted to set out and do all the things we wanted to do with Temple Run but we couldn't fit in," Shepherd says. "It feels like a bigger, better, more awesome version of the first game."

The level design is also set to be much more aesthetically pleasing this time around. The game will take place in a floating temple in the clouds. "The world you're running in is much more rich and vibrant," Shepherd says. "There are curves and hills and valleys and stairs."

There will be more things to unlock this time, such as new characters that have their own specialised powers. "Our fans have been fantastic and have given us great ideas and feedback," Shepherd says. "People always wanted more out of the game. It was so easy to unlock everything, so we're glad we can offer a lot more for this one."

It would also be interesting to have a look at how much money Imangi has made from the in-app purchases that are present in the game.
