Telltale Games to bring The Walking Dead to Ouya

Telltale hopes to give the Ouya a boost. The company has announced on its blog that its critically acclaimed zombie apocalypse game, The Walking Dead, is making its way to the $99 Android-based console. According to the blog post, the entire Season One is coming to the Ouya, along with the relatively recent 400 Days DLC.

Much like the company's business model on platforms like iOS, the first episode of the game is completely free, and gamers can buy subsequent episodes from inside the game itself. There isn't any solid release date yet, but Telltale has stated that it will be out on the console this year. The company hasn't said anything about an Ouya port of the upcoming season 2, however.

It is worth noting that with this announcement, The Walking Dead will be the first Telltale game coming to Android. Sadly enough, there’s still no word on whether it will be coming to Google Play or if it will just be an Ouya-exclusive. However, an Ouya port of the game is definitely a step towards a port for Android in general.

The 400 Days DLC was launched back in July. It chronicles the horrific aftermath of the undead outbreak through the eyes of five new characters as they struggle to survive the first 400 days of the apocalypse. Playable in any order, the five connected short stories are centered in and around a Georgia truck stop, where players will be thrust into horrifying situations that will test their morals and control the flow of the story through their decisions and actions.

The last platform to get the game so far has been the PlayStation Vita. Other than that, the game is available on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and iOS.
