Telegram and Telegram X were pulled from the App Store because they were serving child pronography to users
Apple has a strict policy against so-called "inappropriate content" and apps found in violation of these policies are taken down.

In a statement, Apple has confirmed that Telegram and Telegram X were removed from the App Store because content related to child pornography was being circulated via these apps.[caption id="attachment_4302425" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said that the messaging apps were removed from the App Store for the circulation of inappropriate content.However, in a 9to5Mac report, Apple’s Phil Schiller who is the senior vice president of marketing at Apple said that they were alerted about the circulation of child pornography. Therefore, the apps were taken down from the App Store. Also, they alerted child service agencies in the US.Apple has a strict policy against so-called "inappropriate content" and apps found in violation of these policies are taken down.Later that day, both the messaging apps were restored on Apple’s App Store after fixes were issued.However, both the apps were still available on Android’s Play Store all this while. Recently, Google removed over 7,00,000 malicious apps from the Play Store. It had done so as the apps were violating its community guidelines. While Telegram and Telegram X did escape the purging, we expect that by now, the Google apps would also have been updated with the same patches issued to the iOS variants.Telegram is a popular messaging app that is gaining traction with users for its security and compelling feature-set. Telegram X is an experimental version of Telegram that is being used to test out new features and improvements.
