tech2 live: The latest from Sony’s Xperia Z1 launch in India

After Samsung’s double whammy yesterday, Sony is bringing its big gun to India. The Japanese company has had a decent year in the smartphone market and has managed to have a presence in all segments – from entry level to high-end. With the Xperia Z1, Sony is continuing the same design language that we saw in the Xperia Z at the beginning of the year. Here's a look at the specs of the Xperia Z1.

Under CEO Kazuo Hirai’s ‘One Sony’ ideology, the company is trying to bring its display technologies reserved for the Bravia line, the camera technology seen in the NEX and Cyber-shot range and also the various audio enhancement engines that are routinely featured in Sony’s high-end audio equipment. The Z1 represents the coming together of all Sony’s core technologies. It also packs top-of-the-line chipset in the form of the Snapdragon 800. So it’s most definitely an exciting package.

It comes in a stylish body that’s built to last and is said to be one of the best options for camera phones in the market. We’ll find out soon enough if these claims can indeed stand up to the real world.

Sony will also launch the QX10 and QX100 camera lens attachments for smartphones today. The two lens attachments bring Sony’s best consumer-grade sensors and image processing software to bring near-DSLR-like shooting to smartphones. Image quality is said to be on par with some of the company's advanced point-and-shoot offerings.
