Tata Power becomes the largest renewable energy company in India

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company has announced that it has also become the largest renewable energy company in the country. Tata Power crossed the 3,000 MW mark in terms of operating capacity from non fossil sources. The operational capacity for Tata Power stands at 693 MW of hydro power, 918 MW of solar power, 1,074 MW of wind power, and 375 MW of waste gas based production, bringing the total capacity to 3,060 MW."We are delighted to have crossed the 3,000 MW milestone for our operating non-fossil capacity. This is one of the many key milestones in our endeavor to generate 35-40 percent of Tata Power's total generation capacity from clean energy sources," said Anil Sardana, CEO and MD of Tata Power. "This mammoth leap is well in line with our aim to enhance and increase our non-fossil fuel capacity, and maintaining our value of sustainable growth. We will continue in our endeavors to further strengthen our operations with excellence and optimally utilise our resources to boost the generation capacity."As compared to the previous year, there has been significant increases in the capacity for electricity production from renewable sources. Wind generation capacity has increased by 82 per cent, and solar power capacity has increased by an astounding 1,539 per cent. The company has renewable energy projects in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan and is in the process of increasing the renewable energy production capacity by another 500 MW.
