Tata Group is working on wearables, graphene for smartphones

Tata is working on highly targeted wearable technology products, according to statements given to Bloomberg. One of the wearables is a smartwatch meant just for yoga enthusiasts. The wearable counts the number of breaths, alertness, and other measurements that will be useful to those who practice yoga. The yoga wearable is also positioned as a health product, and is meant to detect the symptoms of heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, hypertension and other lifestyle diseases. The onset of these lifestyle diseases can be prevented with early detection and monitoring.Another wearable, is being tested by crane workers at Tata Steel. Meant for factory floors, the wearable detects and tracks falls and other accidents. Reportedly, Tata is working on a range of wearable technologies. The company intends to bring "Made in India" wearables to the market. Tata Steel, where these wearables are being tested, is also apparently moving away from a steel company to a materials production company. Tata plans to start manufacturing graphene, which is a thin, strong and light material that is an emerging material with many applications. Graphene can also be used in filtration systems, batteries, and smartphones. The company is also working on drones and hydrogen fuel cells.Titan owned by Tata and TIDCO already has a smartwatch in the market, the Titan Juxt. The watch tracks steps, displays smartphone alerts and has a vibrate on call feature too.
