Symantec Introduces Norton Mobile Security App for Android

Popular security solutions provider and leading anti-virus brand, Symantec, has in its latest move looked at safeguarding the popular Android platform, with a new anti-virus app. Norton Mobile Security App, a free app for the platform enables users to scan all the apps they download, and other app updates looking out for any form of threat, which may compromise the security of the smartphone.

The app also detects and blocks any suspicious looking websites and Symantec claims that it is capable enough to detect any threat before it actually infects the user’s smartphone. Additionally, in case the user happens to lose or misplace his smartphone, the app also has a provision to lock the smartphone altogether using a text message, or even wipe the contents of the smartphone, if need be. However, these additional features aren't an immediate part of the app, but could be downloaded from the Android Market for $29.99.
