Symantec's next-gen security and anti-virus package has been rechristened to Norton 360 from its earliner moniker of Genesis. This is a direct competitor to Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare service that is now officially available. Symantec hopes to run a public beta test through the summer, with hopes to launch Norton 360 by the end of its fiscal year in March 2007.The product will include anti-phishing technology for online transactions and file backup tools, in addition to anti-virus and anti-spyware capabilities. Norton 360 will automatically download updates when online, a "service" approach most vendors are incorporating in their products.
