Sony Xperia XZs with 'Motion Eye' camera launches in India at Rs 49,990; preorders from 4 April

The Sony Xperia XZs is exactly the same as the Xperia XZ from the inside and the outside. In fact, even the size and weight of both the smartphones are the same. The only new feature that the XZs gets is Sony's new 'Motion Eye' camera.

Sony has launched its new flagship smartphone - the Xperia XZs - in India at Rs 49,990. The company will start accepting preorders starting 4 April with the device available from 11 April in the market. One thing to note is that Sony is giving a free wireless bluetooth speaker to the consumers who will pre-book the smartphone.The all new Xperia XZs is a successor to the Xperia XZ which was announced last year. The XZs was first showcased along with the XZs Premium at this years Mobile World Congress (MWC).The Xperia XZs is exactly the same as the Xperia XZ from the inside and the outside. In fact, even the size and weight of both the smartphones are the same. The only new feature that the XZs gets is Sony's new 'Motion Eye' camera.According to Sony, the new camera can record 960fps slow motion video which is 4x slower than current smartphone cameras, though slow-mo is captured only at 720p. There is also an anti-distortion shutter which minimises rolling shutter and a unique memory-stacked sensor. The camera has a 19MP sensor (1/2.3-inch), a 25mm f/2.0 lens, a dual-tone flash, predictive and laser autofocus and an RGBC-IR sensor for natural colour rendering. The camera can record 4K video with SteadyShot 5-axis digital stabilisation. The front camera is the same as last year, a 13MP (1/3.06-inch) sensor with a 22mm wide-angle lens.xperia-xzsAs for the rest of the hardware, you get a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with Sony's Triluminos and X-Reality technologies. Sony announced 32GB and 64GB variants at the time of its reveal but India only gets the 64GB variant. The storage can be expanded further as there is a microSD card slot that supports storage of up to 256GB.  The smartphone is IP68 certified so it is dust and waterproof as well.Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, DLNA, NFC, A-GPS/GLONASS and USB Type-C 1.0 port with OTG support. Other features include a side mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 7.0 Nougat and a 2,900 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support and Sony's Stamina mode. The smartphone will come in three colour variants, Ice Blue, Black and Warm Silver.
