Sleeping Dogs, one of the best games of last year, is getting a rerelease with an updated price. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 as part of the PS3 Essentials and the Xbox 360 Classics catalogues. Thanks to this, the price of the game is down to Rs 1,299 on either platforms.

If you haven’t played the game yet, check out our review for all the reasons why you should. In the vein of GTA and Saints Row games, Sleeping Dogs is an open world action adventure game, with the main thing setting itself apart from other games in the genre being its focus on parkour during traversal and the melee hand-to-hand combat.

Sleeping Dogs can count many games as its inspiration, such as the vehicle hijacking from Just Cause, the bullet time from Max Payne, melee combat from the Batman: Arkham games and the parkour from Assassin’s Creed.

Besides being a good game, Sleeping Dogs is also known for its troubled development. It was originally going to be another game in the now-defunct True Crime series by Activision, dubbed True Crime: Hong Kong. Because of the poor reception and performance of the second True Crime game coupled with delays and budget overruns during development, Activision dropped True Crime: Hong Kong, which was later picked up by Square Enix and renamed to Sleeping Dogs.

According to our review, Sleeping Dogs is by far the most refined GTA clone we have come across. Something tells me that its unprecedented gameplay depth will not be matched for a long time. It's not every day that an open world game gets a second chance and the extended development time required to deliver an experience as compelling as this. If you love this genre, there's no reason why you should miss this.

This is as good a time to pick it up as any, especially considering the fact that Square Enix is working on a DLC for the game.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
