Skype fixes log-out issue for Android app

Earlier this month, Skype revamped its Android application completely as it celebrated the 100 million downloads milestone. Unfortunately, the update brought along some niggles and bugs with it. Skype today has updated its app on Android to address these issues.

Most important – and annoying – of these annoyances was the fact that it had become very difficult to sign out of Skype on Android devices. The feature, that should ideally have been easy to find, had been buried deep inside the application, making it a task to log out once you were done using the app. Skype has now fixed this issue by providing for a Menu key option as well as a way to log out using the navigation screen.

Skype has also addressed a bug that did not allow users to go online or make and receive calls if their status was last set to offline in version 3.2 when they updated the application to version 4.0. Similarly, a bug that did not allow users to make video calls in version 3.2 has been fixed as well. The service has also improved dialogue translations for Russian, Brazilian Portuguese as well as Traditional Chinese.

These updates have been appended to the application after tons of user feedback to Skype, the team says. The turnaround time has been pretty quick for the company since it has only been about a week since the redesigned app hit the Google Play Store.

The revamped application has a brand new UI that looks more in tune with the Windows Phone app. Version 4.0 also allows for quick-fire messaging from within the application by simply tapping and swiping on a person’s name to bring you to a messaging window. The app has been built from ground-up and was bound to have some bugs and problems, which Skype seems to be addressing quickly.
