Looks like, CES 2014 will witness a battle of the big screens. Both Samsung and LG are all set to showcase their ultra-HD TVs with curved screens that measure 105-inch diagonally. The TV sets to be announced next month will be built of LCD panels packing more than 11 million pixels, the highest ever for any production television so far.

105-inch LG TV
LG’s 105-inch TV dubbed 105UB9 boasts of a screen resolution of 5120 x 2160. This means the aspect ratio is around 21.3 x 9 (2.37:1). On the other hand, Samsung’s 105-inch curved UHD TV utilizes a new proprietary picture quality algorithm that delivers optimised colour and a greater feeling of depth. It offers more vivid images when viewed from the side than other LED LCDs, says the company. Just like the LG 105-inch curved TV, it boasts of 11 million pixel or 5120 X 2160 screen resolution, but has 21:9 aspect ratio.
However, neither of the companies have disclosed the pricing yet. While Asian TV makers are trying to excite shoppers with new display technology, limited video content in ultra HD resolution and price tags could likely limit appeal.
