Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE starts getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade

As promised at the Mobile Unpacked Episode 2 event, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is now starting to roll out to Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). The update was promised to users last month and is right on time to meet the October date, even though there is still no word on a 4.3 update for Galaxy S3 just yet.

According to a report by SamMobile, while there are not many visual changes to the update rolled out for the Samsung Galaxy S4 to write home about, there are a ton of under the hood improvements coupled with some optimisations that should make Galaxy S4 users very happy indeed. The report also mentions that the benchmark scores of the device have increased with this shiny new update.

Most importantly, Samsung’s Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE is bring along with it OpenGL 3.0 support as well as support for Samsung’s new obsession, the Galaxy Gear. Samsung has also pumped into the update TRIM support to make the device faster and ANT+ support. The update brings along a new Samsung stock keyboard as well as a browser that gives you full screen by default. There is also a new Reading Mode and a whole new Camera firmware to go along with this update.

The 4.3 Jelly Bean update packs in improved RAM management and colour display reproduction, Samsung KNOX implementations as well as a preloaded Samsung Waller. Rounding up the list is an improved TouchWiz launcher that promises much less launcher redraws and lag.

Of course, like most software updates, this one is being rolled out in phases, so you will just have to be patient if it isn’t available for your phone yet. Once Android 4.3 is made available for Samsung Galaxy S4 in the country, you will be able to update it using Samsung KIES or can simply apply the OTA update.
