Samsung Galaxy Note 510 now available on Samsung eStore for Rs 30,990

After making the Galaxy 510 tablet available for pre-order last week, Samsung has now officially launched it in India. You can grab it from the Samsung eStore for a hefty Rs 30,900. We think a price tag of Rs 30,900 seems a bit too steep for what the Note 510 offers, as it is basically a larger and slightly more powerful version of the Note II.

All the devices in Samsung's Note family come with S Pens and the Note 510 is no different. The stylus is accompanied by the usual suite of pen-optimised apps; the Korean electronics giant has also updated the pen to work on the capacitive buttons, so users don't have to make a transition from pen to finger when using the device.

The body is made of plastic and has a glossy coating with round edges, like most of Samsung’s recent smartphones. Even the design is reminiscent of Samsung's products. At 338 g, the Note 510 is in the same ballpark as the iPad mini, and Samsung claims users won’t feel the strain on their wrists even when using it one-handed. The tablet’s back is non-removable and covers a 4600 mAh battery. The microSD and micro-SIM slots are located under flaps on the left edge.

On the back is a 5-megapixel, autofocus camera that's capable of 1080p video recording. The front has a 1.3-megapixel camera, which should be enough for voice calls.

Samsung has partnered with Peel to bring the Smart Remote app to the Note 510, which may be an attempt to get a piece of the home entertainment market. The tablet has an infrared blaster on the right edge and Samsung has baked in a visual programming guide with remote control functions. Another feature that Samsung has added is "reading mode", which adjusts the brightness and contrast of the LCD to make reading more comfortable.
