Samsung demolishes speed barrier, unveils 2GHz Exynos processors

The war of mobile processors and hardware seems to be on. And it’s not being fought by Intel and AMD, but by the goliaths in the mobile space. Samsung has unveiled a 2GHz dual-core Exynos processor. The SoC has two Cortex-A15 cores onboard and this kind of firepower is going to cause some amount of worries in the competitor’s mind. The official press releases, translated by Sammy Hub states the Exynos 5250 is based on a 32nm fabrication process and is approximately twice as fast as the existing 1.5GHz SoC from Samsung. The graphics processor onboard is said to have some four times the graphics performance of the last SoC as well. 

More power per core

The press release also states that the new SoC is capable of rendering 3D visuals as well as support resolutions as high as 2560x1600. While there are no mobile and tablet displays that can totally utilize the power, customers looking for 3D capability might find the new Exynos to be impressive. The Exynos 5250 isn’t expected to be out for interesting customers till the second half of next year. Samsung plans on mass producing the new SoC in the second quarter of 2012. Final products may only hit markets around the end of next year.
