Samsung isn’t announcing a new phablet or high-end phone today for a change. The Korean company has announced two new models on the low-end side of things, but the specs might be quite good if the price is good. The Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame are quite small compared to most other Galaxy phones, and based on their specifications, you will probably be able to get one on the cheap side when they hit the market. Both the Young and Fame run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

We’ll start with the specs of the Galaxy Young, which will likely fill up the bottom spot in Samsung’s range. It has a tiny 3.27-inch display with a 480 x 320 resolution display. The screen sounds really disappointing, but the 1Ghz single-core processor, 768MB of RAM, and 1300mAh battery may make up for it. The only camera on the Galaxy Young is a 3 megapixel shooter on the back. Thankfully, despite the limited 4GB internal storage, there is a microSD card slot which supports cards up to 32GB in size. Naturally, the phone has the full TouchWiz treatment on top of the Jelly Bean experience. The announced dimensions of the phone are 58.6x109.4 x12.5mm, making it quite the fatty.Samsung Galaxy Young

The Galaxy Fame is slightly more high-end, though not by much. It also has a tiny screen at 3.5 inches, but Samsung has gone with the same resolution as the Young on this handset. This means that despite the larger screen, the pixel density is actually lower on the Fame. The company has also decided to grace the handset with the same processor as its sibling. The Fame has slightly less RAM than the Young at 512MB. Thankfully, the 5 megapixel rear camera has a VGA front-facing companion. Samsung has also bundled in NFC connectivity and GLONASS GPS into the handset, which are indeed nice additions for what we hope will be a competitive price.Samsung Galaxy Fame

The Fame is a bit taller, wider, and thinner at 11.6mm, but there is very little to tell the phones apart, except for the slightly curvier edges on the Fame.

Both phones will be available in standard and dual-SIM versions, but the company has not revealed when they will be available for purchase, the price of the devices, or if they will arrive in India at all.
