PM's official Twitter account renamed to PMOIndiaArchive; new @PMOIndia handle created

The official Twitter account for the Prime Minister of India’s Office has been renamed with a new account slated to take its place soon. The account has been renamed @PMOIndiaArchive, complying with the RTI Act and has all the tweets posted by the office till May 20. The new account, which will be a clean slate for the new PM, has started picking up followers already, with over 1,000 followers already. To put things in context, the older account has over 1.24 million followers.[caption id="attachment_224094" align="alignnone" width="640"]
The old PMOIndia account has been renamed[/caption] We suspect the new @PMOIndia handle has been reserved as a placeholder till PM-elect Narendra Modi takes office. The account is currently bare; it has no bio, and is not following anyone either. It has not put up a cover photo in the new Twitter web profile either. It remains to be seen whether Narendra Modi will continue tweeting from his personal Twitter handle after he takes up the PM post. It’s likely that he will put it on pause while using the official handle.
