PlayStation 4 to come pre-installed with augmented-reality game PlayRoom

Sony's new concept for the PlayStation 4's camera, dubbed the Playroom, promised an augmented reality experience right in your living room, and the company has now confirmed that the concept will be one of the pre-installed games on the PlayStation 4. Check out the video that shows off the Playroom:

Before you ask, no, the PlayStation Eye does not have a projector. Instead, the people in the video are looking at all of this on their screens. This does give us a great look at the capabilities of the PlayStation Eye camera, though. It even seems to have some cross-platform stuff going on—you can, for example, add new elements to your game by drawing on your smartphone.

However, to be able to play Playroom, you’ll have to buy the PlayStation 4 camera, which does not come bundled with the console. Buying the PlayStation 4’s camera will set you back by $59.99 (Rs 3,600 approx). However, it is thanks to the camera being sold separately that the console itself costs $399, which is $100 less than the Xbox One.

The company decided on the price of the console in the months leading up to E3, when it cancelled its plans to include the camera with the console. Sony had originally planned to bundle the camera along with the whole package, which may have caused the PS4 to come with a similar $499 price tag as the Xbox One.

The PlayStation 4 is set to hit Indian stores later this year.
