Pegatron to Also Manufacture Next-Gen Apple Devices

Foxconn had been the exclusive assembler for Apple iPads and iPhones. However, the situation appears to have changed with Apple giving a part of the contract to Pegatron Corp., a Taiwan-based contract manufacturer of electronic products. It is reported that Apple has already given Pegatron the contract for manufacturing 15 million units of Apple’s next iPhone.

Pegatron to produce iPad 3 and iPhone 5 devices

According to a report by the Taiwan Economic News, Apple has allegedly handed Pegatron another contract in the form of their upcoming iPad 3 tablets. The Cupertino-based company has made these moves in order to increase production, especially since the fire at Foxconn, which halted production of iPad 2 tablets for a period of time. A report goes on to state that Pegatron is working hard to increase their production share of Apple devices.

Apple is holding onto majority of its component suppliers that include TPK Holdings, Dynapack International Technology, Largan Precision and Foxconn Technology.

In a related report, with Pegatron now in the loop, Apple is reportedly set to unveil their next generation of iPhones by September. Four million units of iPhones should be available at the time of launch. The iPad 3 is also reported to follow shortly after that and is expected to be released by November 2011.
