PC gamers are in for some good news as gaming website RockPaperShotgun reported that the action role-playing video game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will feature free Downloadable Content (DLC) for its PC version.

Marcin Iwinski, Studio head, CDProjekt RED, said that the studio was working towards bringing free DLC to all the platforms, but the final decision would depend on the platform holder.

Talking about DLCs on all the platforms for the game, Iwinski said "It's too early to talk specifics, but definitely all the DLC and updates will be free (on PC). Of course, we'll see what the platform holders will allow, what we can do for free (on next-gen consoles). I mean, there are different business models on consoles. From our standpoint, we'll definitely do everything we can to deliver the same experience across all platforms."Great icy landscapes will bring variety to the environments

The Witcher series is based on a book by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. It takes place in a medieval fantasy world and follows the story of “Geralt”, one of a few remaining witchers – a monster hunter, gifted with unnatural powers. The latest title of the game is expected to be bigger than the previous edition, requiring players to catch a sailboat for some locations and ride horse-back to others.

The game will also be DRM free, a move that has resulted in problems with Microsoft, as its next-gen console, Xbox On, won’t be featuring free DRM. Describing the company’s stand on this move, Iwinski said, "This is our approach, but at the same time, we don't know what the final policies are. Things might be changing. There's a lot of heat right now. From our perspective, we'll always choose the most gamer-friendly solution. And on the platform where we have control, which is PC, we'll release on GOG day one and DRM-free."

However, the pervious title of the game had also featured free DLCs, a move that was welcomed by gamers all over the globe.
