Pandora, based in Oakland, Calif., is facing increased competition this year. It already competes with Spotify, Google Inc. and others in the space, and Apple Inc. plans to launch its own radio service in the fall. Company shares tumbled late last month after Pandora announced it was doing away with a monthly limit of 40 hours of free music. Shares of Pandora Media Inc. rose 29 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $18.50 in morning trading Thursday.
