OxygenOS 3.0.2 rollout for OnePlus 2 begins; brings Android 6.0.1 and new Camera UI

OnePlus 2 owners can finally rejoice as the Chinese smartphone maker has begun rolling out firmware updates that will now push the smartphone to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There are the usual bug fixes, but the new OxygenOS 3.0.2 update also brings some improvements, both to the camera and the fingerprint reader. The update has already begun rolling out and as the blog post points out, should reach all the handsets worldwide within 48 hours.Apart from the standard set of goodies that Android Marshmallow brings with it, there is also a new and improved camera interface. Other key improvements are to do with the removal of MaxxAudio (and Tuner) and the inclusion of Dirac HD Sound.  The fingerprint reader gets faster and more accurate as well. Below are the highlights of the update:

• Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade
• Enhanced Doze mode for better battery life
• System wide performance improvements
• Improved fingerprint sensor performance and recognition
• New OnePlus Camera UI and AF optimization
• MaxxAudio and Tuner have been removed. We have integrated with Dirac HD Sound technology for the speaker so you get a great experience without the knobs and dials
• Shelf UX has been improved. You can now long press to edit a board
• You can now lock apps in recents so they won't be cleared away. We've also added clear process in addition to clear-all for those of you who want better control of background processes
• Network operator selection will now stick to your choice so you don't accidentally roam onto unintended networks
• Swiftkey update to 6.3.3

This leaves just the OnePlus X as the only OnePlus smartphone that is stuck on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The team at OnePlus must be extremely busy since the launch of its newest flagship is nearing. The OnePlus 3, expected to launch on June 14, will finally bring OnePlus shoulder-to-shoulder with the bigger brands in the industry. It is expected to be the first OnePlus smartphone to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and if the rumours are true, 6GB of RAM as well.The OnePlus Loop VR headsets were sold out within seconds in a recent sale, though it's set for an encore on June 7, so make sure you register as soon as possible.. The Chinese smartphone maker made the same available in preparation for its VR launch.
