OnePlus CEO confirms UFS storage coming with the OnePlus 5

In what may seem odd news, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau (Liu Zuohu) took to Weibo to put out a rather strange post. As reported by Android Authority, the post simply confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5, due to be announced on 20 June, will feature UFS storage.OnePlus has been offering UFS storage for quite some time now. The first smartphone to feature the same was the Samsung Galaxy S6. The differences in read and write speeds sure were drastic in comparison to eMMC, which was the earlier standard.Lau's post simply confirms the presence of UFS, but could hint at UFS 2.1.Just recently OnePlus confirmed that its older flagship, the OnePlus 2 will not be getting upgraded to Android Nougat. The move to provide future proof hardware indeed seems to be a tough one. While brands like Samsung and Huawei are setting new standards, it is indeed getting hard for brands like OnePlus that simply choose the right mix and match of hardware (as opposed to creating their own hardware) to keep up and stay with the times.The OnePlus 5 is expected to pack in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The price this year as compared to the past is expected to increase to Rs 39,000 for the high-end models.
