OnePlus has announced that the invite system will be done away with for OnePlus 3 buyers. To get an invitation to a OnePlus device, buyers had to request one from someone who already owned a device, or complete community engagement tasks on social media. Instantly buying a OnePlus device was not easily possible. The reason the company had an invite system in place, was that they wanted a way to scale their inventory according to demand. OnePlus did not want flash sales, where users may not get a device and the entire stock gets over. At the same time, OnePlus could not just manufacture so many devices and wait for the stock to clear, as they had no idea of how much demand would be there for the phones. Now, the volumes of the sales have increased enough for OnePlus to do away with the invite system. Millions of invites were sent over the past two years. The OnePlus 3 will launch in a virtual reality environment. It is the OnePlus headquarters in cyberspace. It is a computer generated futuristic environment. Those who are in The Loop can purchase the OnePlus 3 exclusively for two hours before anyone else. For India, the launch will start at 10:oo PM on June 14.Another way to get your hands on the OnePlus 3 before anyone else does, is to participate in the OnePlus 3 critical appreciation program, or what OnePlus calls, its "trial by fire". Fans are invited to try out and review the phone by signing up for The Lab. These phones belong to OnePlus though, and will have to be returned. The announcement that the invite system will be done away with for the OnePlus 3 comes via a forum post.
