On Video: Nokia Lumia 925

We’ve brought you a quick hands on of the Lumia 925 about a month back and now it’s time for a quick video tour of the phone. With the high launch price not favouring the 925’s sales in any way, Nokia has recently slashed the price and you can now find it online for as low as Rs 29,000, compared to its original launch price of roughly Rs 33,000. Here’s a quick look at what’s changed from the Lumia 920 and a quick comparison with the predecessor:

Our biggest gripe with the Lumia 920 was its size. Even though it sported a, now-modest, 4.5-inch display, the handset felt ginormous in your hand due to the 5-element lens. Well, all that has been rectified with the Lumia 925. The successor is a lot slimmer and lighter to hold and the all-aluminium chassis feels wonderful. The phone also feels a lot smaller to hold and it’s a welcome change from the 5-inch and above behemoths that are become a norm in the high-end segment.

So what’s changed? Well, apart from an all-new housing, the 4.5-inch display is now AMOLED instead of the 920's IPS. It’s tough to say if this is better than the 920 as it packed in a pretty mean IPS display but the black levels are quite impressive and so is the sensitivity. There are the usual array of buttons all around similar to the Lumia 920. Memory expansion is sorely missed since the Lumia 925 has half the onboard storage as the Lumia 920 (only 16GB).

How much of a difference does an extra lens make

Nokia has priced the Lumia 925 a good Rs 5,000 more than the old 920. But is the slimmer and lighter chassis and an inclusion of a sixth lens element worth such a high premium? Not only that, the 925 also lost half its storage and wireless charging feature which weakens its feature set even more. We’ll be bringing you the full review of the phone shortly but before that, we pit the 925’s camera against its predecessor to see how much of a difference an extra lens really makes.
