Nokia rumoured to be testing 6-inch phablet codenamed "Bandit"

Sources close to the development have told The Verge that Nokia is currently testing a 6-inch device with the latest version of Windows Phone, codenamed “Bandit”.

The Nokia “Bandit”, according to reports, comes with a 1080p display and it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. Sources even told the website that the phablet will sport a shooter at the back that is at least 20MP, and it will be fitted within “a slight hump at the rear of the device (similar to the Lumia 925)”. As for the device itself, the report suggests that it will be thin and lightweight, and come with a polycarbonate body. This is it as far as specifications of the Bandit go. According to the site, the “Bandit” is likely to make a debut in the US by the end of this year. 

A phablet in the making?

Phablets, still a fairly new device category, is emerging as a really popular one, and it has found many takers. In fact, several rumours in the past have suggested that Nokia may be developing a phablet of its own.

Interestingly, only last month we got to know a little more about a certain Nokia phablet that is rumoured to have been in the making for a while. Chinese company ICTech posted a photo of the front panel of the 6-inch Nokia Lumia handset. Notable in the leaked picture is an incredibly thin bezel - one of the thinnest we’ve seen in a phablet. The images also depict a tiny hole where we think it will fit a front-facing camera.
