While the net has been buzzing about the launch of Nokia’s PureView 808 mobile, it appears that the information regarding the launch and price is inaccurate.

According to Nokia, the company has neither launched the device officially into the Indian market nor have they announced a price tag for it. The handset has the mobile community eagerly waiting thanks to its latest advancements in mobile phone camera technology.

The price has also been a cause of some concern igniting rumours across the web community with unconfirmed numbers. Initially the 808 was touted to be priced at Rs. 29,999 after which the information was refuted and a pre-order price of Rs. 32,000 was announced. Nokia has informed us that the handset will be announced soon and will also be available for sale both online and in stores soon after. An official date was not mentioned but we’re estimating that the 808 will be announced for the Indian audience sometime in the first half of June.

Since we have tested the prototype, considering all the features the handset packs in it seems like it could be worth the wait. The device, much like the Nokia N8, is centred around the camera that features – full HD video recording @30fps (and 1080p video playback) with time interval shooting (for timelapse videos), instant sharing to Facebook, 38 megapixel shots, 4X lossless digital zoom Nokia Rich Recording that enables audio recording at CD-like levels of quality, previously only possible with external microphones. Sample shots with the handset can be found here.
