New Skype update for Android, iOS allows users to share offline photos and more

Skype has just announced that they are rolling out a new update on both Android and iOS platforms. The update for Android will allow users to share photos with their friends when they are offline and also multi-task on various apps while they are making a call.Previously, this wasn't available as both parties had to be online so as to send/receive messages. The blog also added that new updated app would offer better sound quality especially in those areas where Internet bandwidth is low.The update will also allow users to launch the app quickly from a notification, which previously used to be slow and lagging. Skype will also allow users to view picture-in-picture options which means that a user can navigate anywhere during a video call while keeping the video call active.The updated version 5.10 for iOS  has also brought back Skype URI (uniform resource identifier) support. According to Venture Beat, this means that third-party developers can link their iOS apps and mobile websites directly with the Skype app on an iPhone, allowing users to click a phone number or Skype username to initiate either a phone call or instant message.Skype is clearly hoping that these updates will encourage users to use it more as a default calling app. For example, a user can click the Skype logo icon on any restaurant or hotel's website to place a call. In other features, the app has also improvised on their dialer screen.
