Apart from the all apps that come pre-installed due to TouchWiz, an interesting APK file, codenamed FingerprintService.apk, was also spotted. This could hint at the Galaxy Note 3 possibly coming with a fingerprint scanner. Fingerprint scanning technology on smartphones is not a new idea. The technology, however, has not seen widespread adoption owing to valuable hardware space being used up to fit the scanner and its sensor.

A few smartphone manufacturers may be changing their minds about this, though. An earlier leak revealed the possibility of the HTC One Max coming with a fingerprint scanner. Apple, too, may plan to pitch in with a fingerprint scanner being sported in the upcoming iPhone 5S. The news is far from certain, though, and it is possible that smartphone companies may not bring this feature to the final products.
