New QLED Technology in the House!
Samsung and NanoPhotonica have developed what may replace OLED technology.


New technology to reign supreme?
This display is a 4-inch one which has a QVGA Display with 320×240 pixel and is implemented on a glass substrate. It is controlled using an active matrix, which means each of its color quantum-dot pixels is turned on and off with a thin-film transistor. Although this display may sound like the perfect solution for a number of applications, Samsung says that it still has a lot of kinks which should be ironed out in due course of time.
Oh but wait; this story isn’t over just yet. Another company, NanoPhotonica has also developed and ‘perfected’ QLED technology. Apparently, they promise that the new S-QLED technology will save up to 30 per cent power and will be priced up to 75 per cent lower. What’s more, they also say that this technology will be made available across all display sizes because of cost-effective ink jet printing that requires no vacuum deposition. This definitely sounds like ground breaking technology, and no matter who launches it first, we will definitely benefit from it. So here’s to Samsung and NanoPhotonica!
