New Google Chrome update will trim off all unnecessary junk attached at the end of a URL while sharing

It's common to see a big string of unnecessary characters when copying a URL. No one wants those extra characters on their copied link and it looks like Google is finally doing something to take care of it. Image: Google[/caption]As per a report by Android Police, this shortening of URL will take place automatically when you use the 'Share' menu in Chrome. If you try and copy the link from the URL bar manually, you will still get all the junk at the end of the URL. This feature will also not work with 'Chrome Custom Tabs' said the report.Android Police believes that this feature is related to "canonical page" URLs Google had supported some time back. A canonical page is an authoritative page that needs to be mentioned to Google in case there are several URL's pointing towards the same content. The report further states that this URL trimming by Chrome will also remove anchor tags, which are responsible for loading a page to a specific location.Recently, Google Chrome also announced that it would finally roll out a built-in ad-blocking feature. The company maintained that it is not planning to block all advertisements from web pages. Instead, it will only target bad ads as per standards set by the ‘Coalition for Better Ads.’ Chrome will block pop-up ads, auto-playing ads, large sticky ads and ads that come with a countdown before allowing you to access content on a website as well.
