MWC 2018: Asus will be announcing the ZenFone 5 series at 12 am tonight, here's how and where to watch it live

Mobile World Congress will be on for two more days, and most of the smartphone launches and major announcements have been made. But Taiwanese giant Asus will be launching its next-generation ZenFone 5 smartphone series tonight.[caption id="attachment_4330075" align="alignleft" width="380"] Asus ZenFone 5 launch invite[/caption]The event begins at 7.30 pm Barcelona time, which is 12.00 am (28 February) India time.While we will be live blogging the launch event from the show floor, Asus has also enabled a live stream for those who would like to watch it on their devices.You can head over to the Asus YouTube channel which will have the live stream on from 12 am onwards.Asus CEO Jerry Chen, GM of mobile business division Bryan Chang and global marketing head of system business group Marcel Campos will be present at the announcement.No information regarding the smartphones expected to be launched is out yet. The only details known are that two of the smartphones to be launched would be named the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite and the Asus ZenFone 5 Max.The Asus press page does show a gif which hints at a tall display smartphone, with thin bezels. The press invite also has 'We love Photo' which indicates that camera will be an area of focus for the Asus ZenFone 5 series.Recently, a report was out stating that the ZenFone 5 Max has received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance. The device is reported to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box along with support for Wi-Fi 802.11 ac. The timeline of the certification approval is in line with the plans by Asus to unveil the line-up in March 2018.According to another report on WinFuture, the alleged ZenFone 5 smartphone comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The images spotted in the manufacturers manual shows dual-camera module on the device. The dual-cameras are aligned vertically instead of the conventional horizontal set-up seen on Asus smartphones and there's a single LED flash sitting below the dual-camera set up on the smartphone.[caption id="attachment_4335837" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Asus ZenFone 5.
