LimeWire is being sued by some of the world's biggest record labels - Universal Music, Sony BMG, EMI Group Plc, and Warner Music Group Corporation - saying the software allows users to download music without paying for it.This suit seeks $1,50,000 in damages for every song "willfully infringed" by LimeWire and is the latest in a series of lawsuits filed by the music industry in their attempt to curb Internet piracy. The effort received a major boost last year when the US Supreme Court ruled that content companies can take legal action against technology firms that encourage copyright infringement.The lawsuit also names LimeWire parent Lime Group LLC as well as Chief Executive Mark Gorton and Chief Operating Officer Greg Bildson as defendants.Read more here.
