Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, or MTNL has introduced what it calls the nation’s first SMS-based Missed call alert facility for subscribers to their popular landline services in the Mumbai telecom circle. The city's largest broadband and landline phone service provider will be offering their Missed call alert facility for free till 31st May, 2012, and the monthly subscription charges for this service, thereafter will be Rs.20/month, according to a Telecom Talk report. Existing subscribers to MTNL's Missed Call Alert service will be able to enjoy this service for free. Subscribers should note here that the service is not a default one, and will have to be subscribed to, to avail it. MTNL is now the only provider in the city to offer this service to their subscribers. The final push..

Customers can also subscribe to this service by dialing 1500, which is the call centre number for the service. The subscriber will have to register his/her mobile number to receive MCA alerts and can also modify the registered mobile number any time by dialing IVR short code 127127 (toll free). Reportedly, MTNL has joined hands with Universal Software, USA, for their latest facility to their landline customers. A missed call alert facility is certainly an indispensable tool, especially in times when one is not physically in the vicinity of their landline phone, and misses) an important call. An alert in such cases would inform the receiver the details of the call and aid an answer.
