Mozilla releases Firefox Focus mobile web browser for iOS

Mozilla has released a new mobile web browser for iOS - Firefox Focus.The browser is known to block ad trackers by default, and also wipes off the browser history, passwords and cookies. "Firefox Focus is set by default to block many of the trackers that follow you around the Web. You don’t need to change privacy or cookie settings.  You can browse with peace of mind, feeling confident in the knowledge that you can instantly erase your sessions with a single tap – no menus needed," Mozilla writes in a blogpost.The mobile browser aims at faster web page loading. Usually, its the technology used to track users on the web that slows down mobile web pages. As Firefox blocks these trackers, it will boost the speed, explains Mozilla. The app was originally launched a year ago as an ad-blocker for Safari. However, Firefox has now decided to directly compete with Safari.Techcrunch calls it a plain browser, without any bells and whistles, compared to others. You won't find tabs, list of favourite sites and other configuration options. Under Settings, you will be able to turn on/off the data that you want to block. You will find options like block ad trackers, block analytics trackers, and social trackers. It uses Yahoo Search as its default search engine. But the report confirms that the ability to choose search engine will be added soon. Also, the report adds that countries outside of the US may have different search engines listed as default.Firefox Focus is available to download for free here.
