As we get closer to the unveiling of the much-hyped Moto X, Motorla has taken a new step in promoting it. The company started a sign-up page on its website where users can sign up to have new information delivered to them through email as and when it's available.

Sadly enough, the website doesn't reveal anything new about the upcoming smartphone. It simply reiterates earlier statements, such as it being the first smartphone that is designed, engineered and assembled in the USA. The website also repeats the fact that it will be the first smartphone that buyers can design themselves.

However, the extent to which buyers can design is currently unknown. What is known is that the colour of the handset can be picked, and buyers can get a name or message engraved on the back.Motorola's first phone built with Google's inputs is highly anticipated

The smartphone will be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which is currently the latest version of the operating system (not counting the leaked 4.3 build). The handset is currently being tested by carriers in the US, but the smartphone will also be available through a website.

According to earlier speculation and leaks, the Moto X will not feature top of the line hardware, but will compete with the mid-rangers in the market currently. It will have a Qualcomm MSM8960 Pro dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. This may not be able to go toe-to-toe with the quad-core CPUs of flagships today, but we are hoping there’s some killer optimisation to make software run smoothly.

The leaks also mention that the device will have a 720p display, but there’s no mention of the screen size. The X phone will have a 10 megapixel camera on the back, which will be accompanied by a 2 megapixel shooter on the front. In addition, the phone is said to be carrying 2GB of RAM and internal storage is expected to be 16GB, with no mention of a possible microSD card slot.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
