Moto X's customisation system shown off in video

Motorola has finally announced the highly-anticipated Moto X. And one of the coolest features that the company is rolling out is Motorola's Moto Maker system. The maker system is a website with customisable options for the phone that will leave the buyer spoilt for choice.

Users can take their pick from a handful of backplate colours, like Turquoise or Royal Blue, along with accents around the camera lens and volume rocker.  The process is simple. First, users can choose a back colour from a dozen or so available options. Some nifty wood finishes, like Bamboo, Teak, Ebony and Rosewood, are in the pipeline.

Next comes the front colour selector, which gives users the option of either black or white Then users have to pick an accent colour, and also add a "signature" which will be printed on the back, like an email address. This will definitely help getting the phone back in the off chance that it gets misplaced. And the final touch is a clear or coloured case from manufacturers like Belkin or Case Mate, as well as other accessories like headphones and speakers. Once everything is done, Motorola will have the device at your door step in four days (that's the plan, at least). This service is currently only available in the United States.

The customisable Moto Maker system is currently available only for the AT&T model. Motorola has announced plans to expand availability to all other carriers later in the year, though.

The company has already stated that the phone will come with black and white face colours as well as a staggering 16 rear/accent options. And the phone will offer even more colours and exotic wood back variants later in the year. You can have a look at how the system works for you here:

Right now, only the 16GB variant of the Moto X is available to all carriers. However, there is a 32GB variant that is available for AT&T, which comes with a $249 (Rs 15,040 approx) price tag on contract. The 16GB variant comes with a $199 ( Rs 9060 approx) price tag on a 2-year contract.  While the customisable possibilities of the Moto X is a big plus point, the limited internal storage factor may be a problem. The Moto X will not come with a microSD card slot so many users may decide to wait till the 32GB variant finds more carriers.
