Microsoft releases firmware update for Surface Pro 4; includes a slider to adjust battery consumption

The new update might not be available for some customers as Microsoft releases update in stages and those not getting will soon get the update.

Microsoft is releasing new firmware updates for its Surface Pro 4 2-in-1 devices. According to thewincentral.com the update is available through the Windows Update service and is reaching users gradually in waves. Users who do not spot it immediately and cannot wait, can also manually update their system.Key among the various fixes and improvements is the addition of a Power Control slider in the task-bar to easily control the power options available on the device. The button lets users quickly change the power mode on their devices, cycling between balanced battery saving or performance. Users can change the modes only by simply sliding the bar to the left or right.Surface Pro 4The software giant has also released the new updates to it Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), Pen Pairing, Management Engine and accessory devices as well.The updates for accessories include Microsoft driver updates for Surface Accessory Device, driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio, Adapter and a driver update for Intel(R) HD Graphics 520. Others include a Surface driver update for Surface Management Engine, a driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware, and one for Surface UEFI and the Surface Pen Pairing.The Wireless-AC Network Controller, Display Audio and Surface Integration too saw new updates.The new Surface Pro 4 comes with a 12.3-inch IPS LCD PixelSense display with dual-core, hyper-threaded Intel Core i5 6300U processor clocked at 2.5GHz. The processor is paired with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD storage. It also packs Intel HD 520 graphics.
